Silverstone

The weather was good and the racing great.
Ian started third but got away badly (again!!!) and dropped to the end of a six car train which, on a track covered in oil. They all circulated together for approx 3 laps before Tony Keele spun off, then Anthony Ross (right in front of Ian on the main straight which forced Ian to put all four wheels on the grass allowing Grant Clearwater past.) Then Mike Scott spun so Ian was now fourth.
He spent the remainder of the race in a battle with Grant and finally Richard Kendle who Ian passed on the last lap to finish second and win my class. Whew!!!. Micheal Lyons won again.
The new season starts on 5th April 2009 at Donington.
See you all there!

Donington ** CHAMPION**

In the penultimate race this season Ian started 2nd, and ended up finishing 3rd!
With a great season already behind him and many points on the leadership board, this 3rd place finish was enough to give Ian an unassailable lead in the championship with only one round to go.
It was a great race with lots of passing and repassing but Ian knew he only needed to finish within one position of Tony and hence settled for that.
1) Michael Lyons
2) Tony Keele

Spa Francorchamps

Ian entered two races at the famous Spa circuit.
The results were great, finishing 4th and 6th overall, but picking up class wins in both races!
Ian got to stand on the top step twice.
A great weekend.

Brands Hatch

Ian finished second to Michael Lyons but most importantly ahead of Tony Keele to win the class and take another 9 points in the Championship.
Tony Keele finished third.
Ian started second on grid but dropped to third at the start. He took second place back on the second lap and then concentrated on finishing ahead of Tony Keele.
Nine points ahead in the championship with 2 races to go.
Spa next (non championship) and then Donington on the 4th October.

Oulton Park

Race day was Sunday 24th. Ian finished second in the race and first in his class. Ian's championship lead has now been extended by 3 points to 6. Still, Ian feel's this is too close for comfort at this stage in the season!!! Ian battled for several laps with his championship rival Tony Keele, who made about 7 attempts to pass Ian before spinning - but continuing to finish third.
24th August 2008

Castle Combe

Castle Combe was to say the least a minor disaster!
Ian started from pole, but dropped to 7th place quickly.
With grit and determination, Ian clawed his way back to first only to spin on the by now very wet track!!
Ian ended up finishing sixth.
With four races to go, Ian leads the championship by 3 points.
It's going to be a close contest to the end!
3rd August 2008

Brands Hatch

Ian acheived Pole position, fastest lap and race win!
Held on a warm and sunny day on the full Grand Prix circuit, Ian got off to a good start and pushed hard for the first 4 laps. Tony Keele was behind but Ian was able to pull away by about a second a lap. Glad to win without another close battle but especially pleased to win on this track - one of most famous circuits in the world!
1) Ian Gray
2) Tony Keele

Snetterton

Ian entered 2 races over the weekend. Got pole position for race 1 and battled for all 16 laps with Tony Keele and Anthony Ross. Lots of passing and repassing but he got overtaken on the last lap by a great move from Tony. Ian thought better of a late dive down the inside of him at the last corner as he still had another race to go and I didn't want a damaged car if things went wrong. Finished 0.1 seconds behind with Anthony third.
In race 2 Ian came from fourth to first and held off all Tony's attempts to get past to win by 0.1 secs. Can't get much closer. John Monson was third this time.
That's 3 close races in a row. Things are getting hot!!!!!!!
1st June 2008

Silverstone

The weather was glorious and track conditions near perfect. Ian pulled a pole position out of the bag to start the day well.
At the start of the race Ian dropped to second but soon regained the lead before end of first lap...only to loose it again.
He then dropped another place to third position! After a gripping few laps Ian retook second at Abbey, then first at Priory.
The finish was a nailbiter as Ian got held in traffic allowing Richard Kendle to challenge at Copse on the last lap.
Adding another win to his belt, ian could say that Silverstone was a success!
10th May 2008

Cadwell Park

Cadwell went well.
Ian had Pole Position but it rained just before the start of the race.
Strategy was to take no risks, win the class and finish the race - which is exactly what he did. Third overall was enough to win the class and bring the car home undamaged. Ian is now joint leader of the championship.
16th April 2008

Donington Park

First race of the season and we were expecting rain but the day just got better and better.
Ian got pole position, fastest lap and race win - albeit a little lucky.
After a bad start Ian was third after first corner. Took second back before the end of lap one
and then caught up with Simon Diffey who was leading. Ian tried a few passes but couldn't quite make it and didn't want to risk the class lead anyway. On the last lap they were nose to tail and caught 2 backmarkers who didn't see us. Simon jinked back in front of Ian and then inside the first backmarker. Ian tried to follow but still the backmarker didn't see him and put him on the grass. Meantime Simon clipped the next backmarker and launched his car. Ian had to stand on the brakes and weave his way through the debris but made to the flag. Whew!!!.
